The strategy is to arrest them and place them with criminals in order to disguise the homophobic actions as part of crime prevention efforts.

The perpetrators of these acts remain unpunished because they have the implicit support of the police and municipal authorities. Perpetrators have even boasted of having the direct support of the police in other cases. This intolerance, discrimination, and abuse, based on gender identity manifests itself daily in various towns in the Province of Buenos Aires."

"Like a swell of 'transphobic crimes' was how the Regional Public Defender classified the series of murders of transsexuals which have occurred in Cali.<br><br>
On the average, monthly, two female transsexuals are murdered in the city, placing this type of murder in first place ahead of homophobic and transphobic murders in Colombia.<br><br>
The cruelty and service with which these homicides were committed was evident.
